I am running so bad, it is tantamount to a crime.

Now, I may be one of the few poker players left on earth who actually believes there is no such thing as bad luck. The math may be streaking against you, but there is no such thing as bad luck. Period. If you are running bad, I promise you, without no peradventure of a doubt, it is not a matter of bad luck. It is a matter of poor play and nothing else. And the sooner you figure out the truth in that statement, the sooner you are back on the road to victory. Every time I am running bad, I do one simple thing, and every single time, not one exception, friends, every single time, I am back on track. TIGHTEN UP! Ridiculously so, friends and neighbors. Tighten up until your brain squeaks. Then add a heavy dose of patience and discipline. Then tighten up some more. Play as if being in a hand is a crime, the only redemption from which is doubling up.

I mean, and I am not kidding, do not play a hand unless you can almost guarantee a double up. Then, lo and behold, you will actually be playing good old, prime poker. Page one from the beginner's handbook - tight, aggressive with patience and discipline. No calling with ace-ten, EVER, no limping with gapped connectors, no little pairs in early position, blah, blah, blah. It is so easy, a child could do it.

In the immortal words of Judy Garland: Why, oh why, can't I?
